Ukrainian forces captured a former soldier and have presented him with charges.

Ukrainian soldiers captured a military personnel from Crimea who had defected to the enemy side. He has been charged with treason.

According to RBK-Ukraine, this information comes from the press service of the State Bureau of Investigations.

In January 2025, during an assault on enemy positions in the Donetsk direction, a former Ukrainian soldier was taken prisoner by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The investigation revealed that the man voluntarily pledged allegiance to the Russians after his unit was captured in Simferopol in 2014. Following the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, he fought against Ukraine as part of the Russian assault troops of the 123rd brigade.

The State Bureau of Investigations notes that his parents still reside in the Poltava region.

The suspect has been charged with treason (part 2 of article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The issue of his pre-trial detention is being resolved.

The traitor faces life imprisonment.

As a reminder, the SBU and the National Police uncovered a Russian agent group in the Odessa region. It included three drug addicts aged between 23 and 45 and a recidivist. They were planning an explosion near one of the regional police departments.

Additionally, the SBU previously exposed the management of a chemical plant in Cherkasy. The enterprise had established wholesale supplies of fertilizers to Russia.
