Russian forces attempted to seize and maintain a foothold on the right bank of the Oskol River. Their assault was repelled.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the General Staff, in the Kharkiv region, near the village of Novomlynsk in the Kupiansk district, the Russians tried to capture and hold a position on the right bank of the Oskol River.
The occupiers had an advantage in numbers and even attempted to cross the river.
However, Ukrainian defenders, with the support of artillery and drone units, drove the enemy from the foothold.
"In particular, the soldiers of the 8th separate assault battalion of the 10th separate mountain assault brigade 'Edelweiss' conducted a sweep of the area around Novomlynsk to eliminate enemy forces," the General Staff reported.
Ukrainian military forces were able to destroy the enemy. The right bank of the Oskol is under the control of the Defense Forces, and Ukrainian flags are flying over Novomlynsk.
Earlier, we reported that a group of Russian occupiers had likely broken into Kupiansk. However, Ukrainian defenders managed to repel the attack.
At the same time, according to the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Anatoliy Barhylevych, there is currently no threat to Kupiansk. Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the operational-strategic grouping of troops 'Khortytsia', Nazar Voloshin, stated that Ukrainian defenders have been able to push the Russians back from Kupiansk and are controlling the situation.
