Recently, the Air Forces have recorded a significant number of "locationally lost" enemy drones. This term has several explanations.

As reported by RBK-Ukraine, this was stated by the spokesperson of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ilya Evlash, in an interview with the Center for Counteracting Disinformation.

"There are currently a lot of locationally lost drones. Everyone is asking what that means. In fact, it can be anything – from poor quality and manufacturing of the drone, which might crash because it’s not well-made," Evlash said.

A drone can also be locationally lost if it falls under the influence of electronic warfare (EW). Or it might run out of fuel.

"They often crash into bodies of water or fields. We constantly warn that you should not attempt to eliminate them on your own. If you find one – report it to the relevant authorities," Evlash explained.

He noted that currently, the "Shaheds" have different types of warheads.

"Of course, if 120-140 of them are flying, our air defense tries to eliminate the majority of them, but still, some are lost. Simply put – there was a point on the radar, and it disappeared," he remarked.

Shelling of Ukraine

Since the beginning of autumn, the Russian Federation has significantly intensified its drone attacks on Ukrainian territory. In particular, in October, the RF deployed 2023 unmanned aerial vehicles of the Shahed type and drones of unspecified types against Ukraine. This has become a record number for the current year. In August, September, and October 2024, the RF launched 4,300 strike drones at Ukraine.

Recall that on the night of November 29, the enemy attacked Ukraine with 132 strike drones of the "Shahed" type and drones of unspecified types. The air defense shot down 88 enemy drones, while another 41 drones were locationally lost.
