Russian pilots have once again "dropped" aerial bombs on the territory of settlements within the Russian Federation. This time, it occurred in the Belgorod region.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine referencing the Telegram channel ASTRA.

According to sources from ASTRA, at the end of November, Russian Aerospace Forces dropped three FABs simultaneously in the Belgorod region.

It is known that one of them "unexpectedly descended" near a residential house in the village of Veselaya Lopan in the Belgorod district. This is more than 30 km from the border with Ukraine. Fortunately, there were no casualties or damages.

The second bomb fell in a field 7 kilometers from the village of Bessonovka. The third FAB of the day was discovered in the village of Dragunskoye. This time, the munition landed near a substation, just 3 kilometers from residential houses.

Not the first incident of bomb drops in Russia

According to ASTRA, there are at least 162 known incidents of bomb drops in Russia and in the occupied territories of Ukraine for the year 2024.

In particular, there have been previous reports of similar occurrences.

Use of aerial bombs with UMPK for attacks on Ukraine

To counter Ukrainian air defense, Russia has begun equipping Soviet FAB aerial bombs with UMPK systems. This modernization adds wings and satellite guidance to the bombs, allowing them to be launched from Russian territory.

The Russian army has been actively using UMPK since the spring of this year; however, the upgraded FABs have proven unreliable, often failing to reach their targets.

For instance, on May 4, a Russian aircraft dropped a FAB-500 on Belgorod, resulting in injuries to seven individuals.
