This year's autumn ranks among the top three warmest in Kyiv's history.

The average air temperature for autumn 2024 in Kyiv was 11.4 degrees Celsius. This is 2.7 degrees higher than the long-term average values.

This information was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the Central Geophysical Observatory.

"This year's autumn ranks third among the warmest since 1881 in the capital and matches last year's autumn temperature. A total of 11 temperature records were recorded, observed in September," the statement said.

According to climatologists, all autumn months were warmer than usual, especially September, which had the highest positive deviation of 5.7 degrees.

The coldest days of the calendar autumn 2024 in Kyiv were on November 25 and 27, when the minimum temperature dropped to -5.8 degrees Celsius in the early morning, while the warmest day was September 1, when the maximum temperature reached 33.0 degrees Celsius in the afternoon.

From September to November, Kyiv received 135 mm of precipitation, which is equivalent to 90% of the climatic norm.

As reported by RBK-Ukraine, meteorological autumn arrived in Kyiv two weeks late on September 30. On November 5, the air temperature first dropped to -2.1 degrees Celsius this autumn. This indicates the end of the frost-free period, which lasted from April 21 for a total of 198 days.

For reference, the average air temperature for summer 2024 in Kyiv was 23.0 degrees Celsius, which is 2.6 degrees above the climatic norm. Summer ranked second after the summer of 2010 (23.7 degrees) among the warmest in the capital since 1881. During the summer, 18 temperature records were set.
