The former brigade commander of one of the Territorial Defense brigades arranged for increased payments for his wife for participating in combat operations.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the State Bureau of Investigations.

According to RBK-Ukraine, the individual in question is Dmitry Dmitrievich Gerasimenko, who held the position of commander of the 108th separate brigade.

Investigators revealed that in late July 2023, the official secured a position for his wife as a shooter in the brigade he commanded to arrange for her increased payments. To formally comply with the law, the couple even divorced, but they remained in a familial relationship.

Later, the brigade commander involved two subordinates—commanders of subordinate units—in the scheme. They created false documents about the supposed participation of the woman in combat actions along the contact line. As a result, from July 2023 to April 2024, she unlawfully received over 922,000 UAH in additional compensation.

During this time, the woman served alongside her husband and was engaged in horse breeding on a special farm. She even managed to spend two weeks in Poland, leaving her military unit without authorization.

Previously, RBK-Ukraine reported that the State Bureau of Investigations uncovered 120 officials suspected of creating schemes for the illegal transfer of conscripts abroad over the course of a year. Most often, the subjects of investigations were employees of the Territorial Recruitment Centers, Medical and Social Expert Commissions, doctors, and law enforcement officials.
