France aims to develop a ballistic missile capable of reaching Moscow.

France is planning to develop its own medium-range ballistic missile. This decision arose after Russia executed a demonstrative strike on the Dnipro in Ukraine.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the French publication Challenges.

According to media reports, French developers intend to create a missile capable of hitting targets at a distance of over 1000 km. Currently, this is just a discussion of the project between the command of the French armed forces and the Directorate General of Armaments.

However, some details of the missile's concept are already known. It is planned to launch it from mobile ground platforms. The missile should feature capabilities such as active maneuvering in the terminal phase before striking the target. It is likely that the missile will be able to alter its trajectory until the last moment, thus eliminating the possibility of interception.

According to sources from the publication, the French Ministry of Defense needs to secure a budget for the project’s launch, as it is still in a very early stage.

At the same time, Defense Express believes that with a range of 1000 kilometers, the missile will not be very large. This will help reduce the cost of its development, thereby increasing their quantity in the future. Analysts also consider that 1000 kilometers is a sufficient range, as in the event of deployment in the Baltic states, these missiles could strike targets in Moscow.

Russia launched the "Oreshnik" missile at Ukraine

On November 21, Russia used an intercontinental ballistic missile for the first time to strike Ukraine, media reports indicate, noting that a missile named "Rubezh" was launched at the Dnipro, which Putin referred to as the test system "Oreshnik."

Putin also stated that in the event of a repeated launch of the "Oreshnik," Russia would supposedly warn Ukrainians and recommend that they take shelter.
