The former head of the Makaryv District Court, Alexey Tandyr, will remain in custody for an additional two months. This decision was made by the court.
This information was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing "Grati" on Telegram.
During the court hearing, the prosecutor emphasized that there are still risks that Tandyr might go into hiding or exert pressure on the family of the deceased National Guard soldier if he is released from the detention center.
For his part, Tandyr urged the court to change the preventive measure to a less severe one than arrest. He has been in custody for a year and a half. However, the judge denied his requests and kept the former head of the Makaryv District Court in the detention center.
Recall that on May 26, 2023, then-head of the Makaryv District Court Alexey Tandyr fatally struck a National Guard soldier at a checkpoint in Kyiv.
It later became clear that Tandyr was driving under the influence of alcohol. The deceased soldier left behind a wife and three children.
Following this incident, the court decided to impose a preventive measure of detention for Tandyr. There was no provision for bail for the suspect.
Additionally, on August 6 of this year, The High Council of Justice (HCJ) decided to dismiss Alexey Tandyr from his position as a judge.
