Ukrainian paratroopers, along with adjacent units, captured 27 enemy soldiers in the Kursk region. Among the captives are officers and marines.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the Telegram channel of the Airborne Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to military sources, recently, during combat operations, 27 enemy fighters were taken prisoner. These include officers, sergeants, and soldiers from motorized rifle units, marines, airborne troops, and other military units, representing various regions of Russia and the temporarily occupied city of Sevastopol.

"Faced with a difficult combat situation, they made the right choice - they voluntarily laid down their arms, which saved their lives. Immediate first aid was provided to all the wounded," the paratroopers reported.

Operation in the Kursk Region

The Ukrainian Armed Forces initiated the Kursk operation for several strategic reasons. Firstly, it is a response to the continuous attacks from Russia from border territories, including shelling of Ukrainian settlements and civilian infrastructure. The operation aims to weaken the enemy's military capabilities, destroy their logistical hubs, and the units that facilitate these attacks.

Secondly, the actions of Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region aim to create tactical instability for Russian troops. Shifting combat operations to border regions of the Russian Federation forces the enemy to disperse its resources, reducing pressure on other fronts. This is also part of Ukraine's strategy to demonstrate its ability for active counterattacks and disrupt the comfort zones of the enemy.

Prisoner Exchange

We remind you that yesterday, 25 more individuals were freed from Russian captivity, including one civilian.

Among the released are defenders of Mariupol and "Azovstal," fighters who were captured during battles in the Kharkiv, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions. The exchange took place with the mediation of the UAE.

We also reported that the Ukrainian side has achieved a separate format for the return of its citizens from Russian captivity. This concerns the seriously ill and wounded.
