Pensions in Ukraine may significantly increase, but several important conditions must be met for this to happen.
Member of the Public Council under the Ministry of Social Policy, Alexander Voznyuk, stated this.
He pointed out that there is an issue of uneven pension distribution in Ukraine. As an example, he cited the situation where law enforcement workers, such as prosecutors with 20 years of service, receive between 50,000 and 60,000 hryvnias upon retirement due to various allowances and statuses. Meanwhile, pensions for those who have worked in crucial sectors like healthcare or education are often minimal.
Voznyuk believes that pensions for Ukrainians could reach at least 12,000 hryvnias if corruption is tackled, the payment system is balanced, and pension fund reform is implemented.
Previously, we reported that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine plans a pension reform for 2025, as a result of which some pensioners will lose their pension supplements, and some may not receive any payments at all.
The main goal of the reform is to reduce the amounts of so-called special pensions received by former and current employees of law enforcement and the judiciary. Additionally, some pensioners will lose "Chernobyl" supplements, which are currently given for receiving additional payments.
