The retirement age can be reduced by 5, 10 years, or more depending on the profession, and this applies not only to miners and metallurgists but also to many other specialists.
This information is provided by the Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFU).
Who is eligible for early retirement
The lists of professions eligible for early retirement, as well as hazardous industries, have been approved by various resolutions over the years. Overall, these lists encompass thousands of positions across numerous sectors and professions.
For instance, miners and metallurgists have the opportunity to retire earlier under special conditions if they have at least 25 years of work experience in list No. 1. This means that if one starts working at the age of 18, they can retire as early as 43.
Note: It is important to refer to the current lists of privileged professions, as they may have changed. Some professions that were previously eligible may have been removed from the new lists, or conversely, new ones may have been added.
There are also categories of professions where only 20 years of work is required for retirement without additional conditions. This includes workers in cleaning face jobs, tunnelers, and steelworkers. In these cases, workplace certification is not required.
LIST NO. 1 Employees on list No. 1 can retire at the age of 50. Benefits are granted to:
- men with at least 25 years of service, 10 years of which are privileged;
- women with a total service of 20 years, including 7 years and 6 months of privileged service.
If the privileged service is less than required but at least half of it, the retirement age may be reduced by several years.
LIST NO. 2 For those working under list No. 2, the retirement age is lowered to 55 years. Early retirement is available for:
- men with 30 years of service, 12.5 years of which are privileged;
- women with 25 years of service, 10 years of which are privileged.
Additional Benefits
Workers in underground jobs have specific privileges. If they have worked in a mine for at least one year but do not have the full privileged service, they can retire at 59 years old, provided they have the necessary total service.
