The Security Service of Ukraine has apprehended a traitor within its ranks who was working for Russian intelligence. The operation was personally led by SBU Chairman Vasyl Maliuk.
This information was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the SBU press service.
According to sources from RBK-Ukraine, the traitor turned out to be Colonel Dmytro Kozyura, the head of the Anti-Terrorist Center at the SBU.
The agency stated that the traitor was the head of the SBU's Anti-Terrorist Center. Maliuk explained that the SBU documented 14 instances of the "rat's" illegal activities.
It is known that Maliuk personally participated in the operational investigative group that was working on the traitor's case and led the operation to apprehend him. He reported on all stages of the operation to President Volodymyr Zelensky.
"This was an extremely complex operation and a subsequent multi-step implementation during which we utilized all possible open and covert methods and techniques of our activities, as well as the full range of operational and technical measures," Maliuk stated.
According to him, thanks to such programs, they were able to access the traitor's devices—mobile terminals and computers. This allowed them to document the collection and transmission of relevant information to the enemy by the traitor.
Additionally, through the traitor, the SBU transmitted disinformation to the enemy for an extended period: initially as part of counterintelligence activities, and later as part of a criminal investigation.
"The SBU's self-purification continues. No matter how much the enemy tries to infiltrate our ranks—they think they possess all possible forms and methods of conspiracy—they will not succeed. Because we timely identify, document, and apprehend them," said Vasyl Maliuk.
Recall that earlier, RBK-Ukraine reported that the SBU detained two Russian agents who planned to monitor military transport accompanying the columns of the Armed Forces of Ukraine using a GPS tracker.
