In the Ivano-Frankivsk region, serviceman Andrey D. left his place of duty without permission, explaining that he needed to visit his mother, who, according to him, was hospitalized due to a serious illness.

This is stated in the verdict published in the court register.

Case Details

It is known that Andrey D., a native of Prykarpattia, left his military unit without authorization in March 2023 and did not communicate for about a week. Following the incident, a criminal case was initiated regarding his unauthorized departure from service.

During the trial, the soldier explained that after mobilization, he was assigned the role of a telephone lineman in one of the communication units. However, he claimed that he was forced to leave the unit because his mother was hospitalized in serious condition due to COVID-19. He stated that he requested permission from his commander to visit her, but was denied, after which he left the unit without permission. Approximately a week later, he returned to service on his own.
