Ukrainian scouts have identified a Russian radar station 1L122 "Garmon" in the occupied territory of the Zaporizhzhia region.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing The Main Intelligence Directorate.
According to GUR, the first attempt to strike the enemy radar was not successful due to weather conditions.
However, the Russians heard the explosion and decided to evacuate the equipment.
"They disassembled the radar, loaded it into a vehicle, and were about to leave when another strike occurred," the statement reads.
As a result of the attack, both the "Garmon" radar and the military personnel servicing the equipment, as well as the vehicle of Russian radio-technical reconnaissance specialists, were destroyed.
In the second half of last year, information emerged regarding preparations by the Russians for a large-scale offensive in the Zaporizhzhia region. At that time, there were also reports of an alleged threat to the city of Zaporizhzhia.
However, the Defense Forces stated that the Russian occupiers have intensified their activities in the Zaporizhzhia region. Nonetheless, according to military sources, the enemy lacks sufficient strength for a major offensive.
According to RBK-Ukraine sources, the start of the occupiers' operation in the Zaporizhzhia region was anticipated around December 5. More details can be found in the RBK-Ukraine article.
