The number of casualties from the Russian missile strike in Sumy has risen following the enemy attack on the evening of November 17. Currently, there are reports of 10 fatalities from the shelling, including two children.
This information comes from RBK-Ukraine, citing the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) and the Sumy Regional Military Administration.
It has been noted that on Sunday, the Russian army launched a missile strike on a densely populated residential area in Sumy, with the impact occurring near a nine-story apartment building.
The SES reported that as a result of the attack, 10 people have died, including two children.
Additionally, emergency services stated that 51 individuals were injured, including 5 children. The Sumy Regional Military Administration clarified that among the deceased were a 9-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl. There were reports of 52 injured individuals.
However, it was later revealed that the number of injured had increased again - a statement from the Sumy City Council at 23:46 indicated that 55 people were injured, including 8 children.

"Rescuers and all necessary services continue to work at the site of the tragedy. Over 400 residents have been evacuated from damaged buildings. An invincibility point of the SES has been established. SES psychologists are providing assistance to the victims," emergency services reported.
Photos and videos of the aftermath of the ballistic strike on Sumy on November 17 have also been released.

As noted by the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Volodymyr Artyukh, the Sunday evening for the city of Sumy "became hell, a tragedy brought to our land by Russia,"
"Rescuers, volunteer battalions, and police are working here. More than 400 residents of the damaged homes are being evacuated. A headquarters has been set up, and invincibility points are operational; residents of neighboring houses and even from other districts of the city are joining in to assist the victims," the official stated.
The SES also added that apartment inspections are being conducted in all damaged buildings in Sumy to "check every corner and find any victims."
The Sumy Regional Council informs that November 18-19 will be days of mourning for the victims of the Russian shelling of Sumy.
Additionally, as reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General, a pre-trial investigation has been initiated under the procedural guidance of the Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office regarding the violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with intentional murder (part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Earlier, it was reported that on November 17, Russian military forces struck a high-rise building in Sumy around 20:40.
Later, local authorities stated that due to enemy shelling, 8 people died in Sumy, including two children. Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko reported that more than 400 people were evacuated from the damaged building in the city.
