The United States is preparing for a potential cyberattack from China, particularly targeting critical infrastructure networks.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing Reuters.

According to the publication, the executive director of U.S. Cyber Command, Morgan Adamski, stated that cyber operations associated with China are aimed at gaining an advantage in the event of a major conflict with the U.S.

Officials specifically warned that China-linked hackers have compromised IT networks and have taken steps to conduct destructive attacks in the event of a conflict.

Adamski noted that the U.S. government is "engaging in globally synchronized activities, both offensive and defensive, focused on undermining and disrupting the cyber operations of the PRC worldwide." He mentioned that among the public examples are the exposure of operations, sanctions, indictments, law enforcement actions, and cybersecurity consultations involving many countries.

At the same time, China denies conducting cyber operations against American organizations.

Previously, RBK-Ukraine reported that Chinese hackers breached Verizon's system. Following this, their attacks targeted the phones of individuals linked to Kamala Harris's campaign. At that time, media reports indicated that the hackers who breached Verizon had focused on the phones of people associated with the presidential campaign of Democratic candidate Kamala Harris.
