In the Poltava region, an unknown assailant shot a military serviceman from the TCK at a gas station while escorting conscripts. Authorities are currently searching for the perpetrator, who fled with one of the conscripts.
This information is reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the Poltava TCK.
"On February 1, at a gas station in the city of Pyriatyn, during the escort of conscripts to the 199th training center, an armed attack occurred on a serviceman of the Poltava RTC and SP," the statement from the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reads.
An unidentified man in a gray balaclava and pixelated pants approached the military enlistment office worker and, threatening with a hunting rifle, demanded the weapon.
According to the Poltava TCK, after receiving a refusal, the attacker fired a shot from a distance of 2-3 meters. The criminal took the weapon from the injured serviceman. Following the attack, the assailant, despite being pursued, escaped with one of the conscripts.
"As a result of the severe injury, the soldier died on the spot," the Ground Forces added.
Law enforcement agencies are working at the scene, and operational search measures are ongoing. A special operation called "Siren" has been launched in the Poltava region.
Recall that on January 13, an attack on TCK workers occurred in Kharkiv. One of the assailants was apprehended by the police.
Additionally, in November of the previous year, a conscript attacked a sergeant during a scheduled service at the TCK, inflicting a knife wound to the area of the right collarbone.
