In Poland, on the border with Belarus, 63 military personnel have been injured since the beginning of 2024. This occurred due to the aggressive actions of illegal migrants attempting to enter the country.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing RMF24.PL.
According to Deputy Minister of National Defense of Poland, Pawel Beida, foreigners have been showing aggression towards the security forces, particularly by throwing stones and branches at them.
"Since the beginning of 2024, 63 soldiers have been injured during the detention or restraint of illegal migrants," he stated.
Since the start of this year, nearly 28,000 attempts to illegally cross the border have been recorded at the border with Belarus. This is over 2,000 more than in the entire year of 2023. The majority of foreigners involved are citizens of Syria, Afghanistan, Somalia, Eritrea, India, Ethiopia, and Yemen. Meanwhile, Poland believes that the scale of the situation at the border is being managed by Belarusian special services.
Earlier, RBK-Ukraine reported that Poland and the Baltic states proposed to the EU to construct a 700-kilometer defense line on the border with Russia and Belarus to safeguard the EU from military and hybrid threats.
