The Kyiv Defense Council will consider changes to the public transport operating regime during air alerts. This issue will be addressed shortly.
This was announced by the new head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Timur Tkachenko, as reported by RBC-Ukraine citing his post on Telegram.
He stated that he would submit for consideration by the Kyiv Defense Council the question: "Development of an algorithm for the operation of ground public transport during air alerts".
In addition, the upcoming meeting of the Defense Council will address the issue of official business trips abroad for all representatives of local self-government bodies of the Kyiv territorial community and employees of the Kyiv City Military Administration, subject to the Defense Council's approval.
There are also plans to discuss the evacuation of vehicles damaged as a result of shelling from the streets of the city.
Recall that on August 1, 2022, the Kyiv City State Administration decided to halt public transport during air alerts.
Additionally, in May 2023, the Kyiv Defense Council adopted a protocol that mandated municipal transport to stop during alerts to allow passengers to exit the vehicle and seek shelter.
This same rule, as decided by the Defense Council, applies to public transport operated by private companies; however, in practice, they do not comply due to the absence of sanctions for non-compliance.
In the event of an air alert in Kyiv, all underground metro stations provide shelter for the population. Train operations during alerts do not stop but occur exclusively in the underground sections of the metro lines.
