A gymnasium in the Ivano-Frankivsk region has been destroyed by fire (photo).

On January 12, a fire broke out at a gymnasium in the Ivano-Frankivsk region. The school building has been destroyed.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing SES and the head of the Ivano-Frankivsk OVA, Svitlana Onyshchuk, on Facebook.

According to the rescuers, the fire in the two-story building, covering an area of 220 square meters, started at 04:08. The firefighting efforts were hampered by strong winds and a lack of water sources.

By 07:50, the firefighters had extinguished the blaze. A total of 45 rescuers and 13 special vehicles were deployed at the scene.

The head of the Ivano-Frankivsk OVA specified that the fire destroyed the Voronenko Gymnasium of the Polyanytsia community. Rescuers from Vorokhta, Yaremche, and Nadvirna were involved in the firefighting efforts. Fortunately, there were no casualties.

"The gymnasium has 44 students in grades 1-8. After the holidays, the children will begin their studies in an online format. Efforts are being made for elementary school students to resume in-person classes in adapted facilities," she added.

Recall that on January 1, a fire occurred at a sanatorium in the resort town of Vorokhta in the Ivano-Frankivsk region. Rescuers had to evacuate more than 100 people.

Recently, a hotel caught fire at the "Dragobrat" ski resort in the Zakarpattia region. The fire lasted nearly three hours.
