On Tuesday, January 7, specialists discovered the anchor of the tanker Eagle S on the bottom of the Gulf of Finland. It is likely that the vessel "lost" it during the severing of several underwater cables.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing Yle.

According to the publication, the anchor was found on the seabed. It was brought to the surface using the Swedish Navy vessel HMS Belos.

Local investigators have already seized the anchor.

The main theory is that the cables were damaged by the anchor of the tanker Eagle S, which was heading from a Russian port.

Severing of Cables in the Baltic Sea

At the end of last year, underwater communication cables between Finland and Estonia were damaged in the Baltic Sea. Following this, Finland detained the vessel Eagle S, which is likely a tanker from Russia's "shadow fleet," passing through the area where the cables were severed.

Recently, it was revealed that Finland suspects seven crew members of the vessel of vandalism under aggravating circumstances. They have been prohibited from leaving the country.
