Ukraine has likely used Storm Shadow long-range missiles against targets in Russia for the first time. The target may have been a facility housing an underground command post of the Russian Federation.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing Defense Express.
If Ukraine indeed employed Storm Shadow missiles on Russian territory, it would not have targeted an ordinary facility. In the Kursk region, there could be a command center for the Russian army grouping, possibly involving North Korean generals.
Specifically, a video has surfaced from the settlement of Maryino. The footage captures a series of sounds resembling explosions. Notably, the video was recorded near the historical estate of the Baryatinsky family, which currently operates as a sanatorium under the administration of the President of the Russian Federation.
According to unconfirmed reports, the targeted object is located in the eastern part of the sanatorium, and there are indications that it is a military facility of the "communication node" type.
Defense Express points out that this may not be just a standard communication facility, but rather an advanced command post. Considering all the details, it is likely that it was utilized by the command of the Russian troop grouping in the Kursk region. Additionally, North Korean generals may have also been present there.
According to Defense Express, the presence of command personnel in this location could have made it a target for the Storm Shadow missiles.
The United Kingdom transferred long-range Storm Shadow missiles to Ukraine last year. These missiles, with a range of up to 300 km, were adapted for use on upgraded Ukrainian Su-24M aircraft. Previously, Ukrainian military forces were prohibited from using them to strike targets within Russia. The last known instance of these missiles being used was recorded by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on October 5, when three enemy command posts were hit.
Recently, sources from RBK-Ukraine reported that The United Kingdom and France have permitted the use of Storm Shadow/SCALP for strikes on targets in the Kursk region. Simultaneously, The Times noted that the United States had approved strikes deep into Russia using Storm Shadow missiles, as these missiles are manufactured from American-made components.
Additionally, on November 19, sources indicated that ATACMS missiles were used for the first time to strike a target in the Bryansk region. Today, Bloomberg reported that Ukraine has launched long-range Storm Shadow missiles against enemy military targets in Russia for the first time.
