The reasons for such a significant increase, producers cite the rise in feed and energy prices, which have affected overall production costs.

This was reported to NV Business by the press service of the ATB chain.

Sergey Karpenko, the executive director of the "Union of Poultry Farmers of Ukraine," notes that poultry feed has also significantly increased in price: feed wheat has risen by 70%, corn by 80%, and sunflower meal by 60%. Furthermore, the cost of electricity for industrial enterprises has noticeably increased, which has further impacted the overall expenses of producers. Logistics costs have also risen, along with wages for industry workers, collectively raising the production cost of eggs.

Additionally, autumn and winter are traditionally a season of reduced production volumes for egg producers, especially for small private farms, where production can drop by 30-50% compared to the summer period. However, for large producers utilizing automated and alternative energy sources, seasonal fluctuations are less pronounced.

Interestingly, despite the price increase in October, there has been a certain decrease in prices this year compared to the previous year. According to Karpenko, in September 2024, egg prices were 20% lower than during the same period in 2023, and October prices were 15% lower than a year ago.
