The price of electricity for residential consumers in Ukraine may gradually rise to 6.5 UAH per kWh due to the country's Euro-integration commitments.
However, the cost of electricity will not increase for now, according to the response from Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko to the inquiry from MP Oleksiy Kucherenko.
According to Resolution No. 632, which is in effect until April 30, 2025, the tariff for electricity for residential consumers will remain unchanged until that date.
MP from the "Servant of the People" party and member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Economic Development, Bohdan Kytak, predicts that in the near future, the electricity tariff for residential consumers in Ukraine may increase to 6.5 UAH per kWh. He noted that currently, the price of electricity in Ukraine is significantly lower than European levels, even when considering the differences in wages and pensions.
The increase will not be abrupt and will only occur with substantial financial investments in Ukraine's economy. Currently, the cost of 1 kWh remains stable at 4.32 UAH and will not change at least until May 1, 2025.
Recently, the CEO of the energy company Yasno, Serhiy Kovalenko, urged Ukrainians and experts to approach tariff forecasts with caution, as they could incite panic among the population. This, in turn, leads to overloaded hotlines of energy companies, complicating the work of specialists in addressing actual consumer issues.
