The newly elected President of the United States, Donald Trump, stated that he might revoke the permission granted to Ukraine to strike deep into Russia with Western weaponry. This permission was provided by the current U.S. President, Joe Biden.
As reported by RBK-Ukraine, he made this announcement during a briefing with journalists.
According to Trump, the Biden administration should not have allowed Ukraine to carry out strikes deep into Russia.
"I don't think they should have been allowed to launch missiles 300 kilometers into Russia. To me, that's a bad idea," Trump said.
In his view, this decision allegedly dragged North Korea into the war against Ukraine. However, it is worth noting that media reports about the presence of North Koreans in Russia surfaced before the U.S. granted permission for long-range strikes against the aggressor country.
"This attracted the North Koreans... and just weeks before I took office. Why was this done without asking me? Yes, I can (revoke the decision regarding strikes deep into Russia with Western weaponry - ed.)," Trump remarked.
Previously, we reported that on November 18, the U.S. authorized Ukraine to use ATACMS missiles to strike targets within Russia. And on the night of November 19, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) attacked a military facility in Bryansk Oblast for the first time.
It is also known that the Biden administration allowed strikes on Russian rear positions using Storm Shadow/SCALP cruise missiles, which contain American components.
According to media reports, similar permission was granted by the governments of the United Kingdom and France, whose defense companies manufacture this type of missile, but usage was limited to the Kursk region.
On November 20, it became known that the AFU used Storm Shadow missiles against Russian territory for the first time.
