This was discussed by him on the program "Dialogues with Maxim Yali".
The expert points out a rather interesting fact: we know the details of agreements between the USA, Europe, and Ukraine, but we lack information on those between Russia and Iran, China, or North Korea. He explains that when a participant from the authoritarian world enters the democratic sphere, the space for secrecy is immediately cut off, which is why the Istanbul agreements could not be open.
“We cannot hope that the war can be won through diplomacy. Because diplomacy involving authoritarian regimes will always be secret diplomacy. No matter how much our president travels to various countries, sooner or later he will have to sit down to negotiate with that part of the world that operates through secret agreements,” emphasizes Sergey Datsyuk.
He explains that to conclude anything in secrecy, one must have an understanding of the system, its principles, and prospects, as you cannot finalize something that contradicts the imminent future of the world. Therefore, the philosopher states, it is essential to know who will be dominant – China or the USA, and what the world will look like – authoritarianism with separate nuclear fortresses or a republic, as these represent two different futures and two distinct peace treaties.
“As soon as you try to say that we will win the war through diplomatic means, you hit this fork. Thus, the war cannot be won by diplomatic means. On the other hand, it cannot be won on the front lines either. Ukraine has only one way out – to build its own world and present it to the world,” concludes Sergey Datsyuk.
