The Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to hold their positions in the Kursk region, and the operation has significant political implications.
There are no discussions about the withdrawal of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the territory of the Kursk region, noted military personnel and political analyst Kirill Sazonov during a broadcast on "Kiev24". He emphasized that the operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the region is extremely important from a political standpoint and is carried out under constant command supervision.
Sazonov explained that the Ukrainian 41st Brigade has been actively engaged in the area of the city of Sudzha since the beginning of August, facing heavy battles against the 810th Brigade of the Russian Marine Corps, where North Korean military personnel are being sent to reinforce Russian positions. The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, recently visited this section of the front to personally assess the situation.
No discussions about withdrawal are taking place, Sazonov assured, stressing that as long as there are no orders to retreat, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will maintain their positions.
"Russian troops are launching powerful airstrikes and infantry assaults, destroying their territory just as they did in Donbas. It's better for them to demolish Kursk than Sumy," the expert added, reflecting the stance of the Ukrainian military.
Sazonov noted that during the operation in the Kursk region, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have eliminated about 20,000 Russian soldiers, while the Russian command continues to send in reinforcements.
According to the General Staff's assessment, the number of Russian troops in this region is approximately 55,000, while "3-5 thousand North Korean mercenaries are lost against this backdrop."
