The court has extended the pre-trial detention for MP Yevhen Shevchenko. He is suspected of treason.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing "Suspilne".

According to the court's decision, Shevchenko will remain in the pre-trial detention center for at least until March 7. Moreover, the option of bail is not available for him.

The Shevchenko Case

Recall that back in November, it became known that Yevhen Shevchenko is suspected of systematic information subversive activities in favor of Russia. In particular, he spread Russian propaganda regarding the war in Ukraine and Ukrainian defenders.

To disseminate fake news, Shevchenko used his own channels on YouTube and Telegram.

Furthermore, he visited Belarus even after the onset of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine to establish schemes for the purchase of electricity for companies under his control.

After the announcement of the suspicion, Shevchenko was placed under pre-trial detention. Now the MP faces up to 15 years in prison.
