Groups of European Union countries have signed letters of intent for the joint development of specific types of weapons. This initiative is part of the EU's efforts to enhance cooperation among member states in the defense sector.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing EDA.
It is noted that the countries have signed letters of intent to develop air defense and missile defense systems, electronic warfare (EW) equipment, and kamikaze drones. Additionally, a European combat ship will be created.
According to EDA, 18 EU members have agreed to collaborate on air defense. Meanwhile, 17 countries will jointly develop kamikaze drones, 14 countries will focus on EW systems, and seven will work on the combat ship.
"The scope of these letters of intent ranges from short-term joint procurements and medium-term modernization and upgrades to long-term development of future capabilities," the statement reads.
Previously, several media outlets published a series of articles regarding Russia's alleged plans to attack NATO countries. Initially, this was reported by the German tabloid Bild, which supposedly obtained a secret document titled "Alliance Defense-2025."
