Russia has likely redeployed the 61st Separate Marine Brigade from the left bank of the Kherson region to the Donetsk direction, specifically to Pokrovsk.
This concerns a unit of marines that was initially intended to be sent to the Kursk region, but at the last moment, they found themselves in Donetsk. Military analyst Konstantin Mashovets shared this information on his Telegram channel reported.
According to Mashovets, there is a possibility that the marines from the 61st Separate Brigade, who were carrying out tasks for the Kremlin on the left bank of the Kherson region, are now headed to Pokrovsk. He clarified that this brigade was part of the enemy grouping known as "Dnieper," which was located near the city of Oleshky in the Kherson region.
It has become known that the supposed redeployed marine brigade consisted of three marine battalions, an assault landing battalion, a reconnaissance landing battalion, two self-propelled artillery divisions, an anti-aircraft missile-artillery division, an engineering marine battalion, a material support battalion, and a brigade hospital.
Mashovets emphasized that if the information about the relocation of the 61st Brigade is confirmed, it may indicate that Russia is facing difficulties regarding reserves. The analyst noted that if the Kremlin had sufficient forces, there would be no need to send an entire marine brigade to another section of the front.
Furthermore, even if this brigade were indeed considered surplus on the Dnieper, it would have been logical to send it directly to the Kursk region, where it is evident that the district command is experiencing a shortage of combat-capable infantry, rather than to the front near Donetsk.
