Defense forces struck the "Yartsevskaya" oil depot in the Smolensk region.

Special Operations Forces, in collaboration with Unmanned Systems Forces and other components of the Defense Forces, launched an attack on the "Yartsevskaya" oil depot located in the Smolensk region of Russia.

The special operations forces, in coordination with unmanned systems and other components of the defense forces, struck the "Yarcevskaya" oil depot located in the Smolensk region of Russia.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to the General Staff, the oil depot was attacked on the night of Tuesday, December 31. The attack resulted in powerful explosions and a fire on the site, with significant smoke observed.

Reports indicate that tanks containing petroleum products caught fire. It is noted that the depot was used, among other things, to supply the Russian occupying army.

Further details regarding the outcomes of the combat operation are being clarified.

Explosions in the Smolensk Region on December 31

It is worth mentioning that on the night of December 31, an aerial attack using drones took place in the city of Yarcev in the Smolensk region. As a result, the local oil depot was hit, leading to a fire on the site.

The governor of the Smolensk region, Vasily Anokhin, stated that the fire at the oil depot was caused by debris from a downed drone.

Previously, RBK-Ukraine reported that in April, due to a drone strike, an oil depot was also ablaze in the Smolensk region - specifically in the Yarcev district. Additionally, that intense fire at the oil depot in the Smolensk region was recorded by satellite.
