Law enforcement officials have initiated a criminal case regarding a large-scale cyberattack on state registries. The SBU suspects Russian intelligence services.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine, citing the acting head of the SBU Cybersecurity Department, Vladimir Karastelyev, during a briefing.

He noted that the Security Service of Ukraine has opened a criminal proceeding under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, including Article 438 - violations of the laws and customs of war.

Karastelyev emphasized that the SBU suspects the involvement of Russian intelligence services in the large-scale cyberattack.

"The main version being considered by the SBU is that Russian intelligence services, particularly groups linked to the GRU of the General Staff of the Russian Federation, are behind this cyberattack," he stated.

Cyberattack on Registries

On Thursday, December 19, Deputy Prime Minister Olga Stefanishyna reported a large-scale attack on electronic state registries managed by the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine.

She claimed that Russians were behind the attack. According to Stefanishyna, the hackers' actions did not affect other state information systems, including the "Dія" application.

The Deputy Prime Minister also noted that there is no threat of data loss following the large-scale cyberattack. Specialists will restore data from the registries.

The SBU noted that it will check whether there has been a data leak. Meanwhile, Stefanishyna stated that a data leak has not yet been confirmed.
