Russian soldiers shot Ukrainian servicemen. This incident occurred on Friday, January 3, in the Donetsk region.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing Telegram from Ukraine's ombudsman, Dmytro Lubinets.
According to the ombudsman, the incident took place near the settlement of Neskuchne in the Volnovakha district of Donetsk region. Preliminary reports indicate that Russian occupiers executed three Ukrainian prisoners of war. They bound their hands and shot them in the back of the head.
Lubinets reminded that under the Geneva Conventions, prisoners of war are under special protection, and no country has the right to torture, mock, or take their lives. Despite this, Russia shows a disregard for international norms.
"As the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights, I once again urgently appeal to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the United Nations. These organizations must condemn this crime and exert pressure on the Russian side to cease such acts," Lubinets wrote.
According to former Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin, up to 90% of Ukrainian prisoners in Russia suffer from various forms of torture.
We also reported that last year Russian soldiers executed five Ukrainian prisoners of war near Ugledar.
One of the most massive executions was the shooting of 16 Ukrainian soldiers in the Pokrovsk direction. Law enforcement has already identified the unit of occupiers that may have carried out the execution.
