On the evening of January 12, Russian invaders launched airstrikes on a children's rehabilitation center (ODC) in Sumy. A fire broke out on the premises of the facility.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine, citing the Main Department of the State Emergency Service in the Sumy region(GUSCHS in the Sumy region) and the Telegram-channel of the Sumy regional military administration.
Emergency services stated that the residential sector of the city was also affected by the drone attack.
According to preliminary information, there were no casualties.
The State Emergency Service informed that rescuers had to operate simultaneously at several locations.
"The fire outbreaks have been extinguished. The areas that were struck have been examined," emergency services reported.
The State Emergency Service also shared videos and photos of the aftermath of the enemy attack on the city of Sumy.
Meanwhile, the Sumy Regional Military Administration mentioned that the fire at the ODC in the Sumy community was caused by the debris of a Russian drone falling.
"Preliminarily, no people were harmed. All necessary services are working at the site. The consequences of the enemy attack are being clarified," the administration added.
Let us remind you that Russian invaders regularly shell the territory of the Sumy region since the beginning of the large-scale invasion of Ukraine.
The border areas of the region suffer the most, but the enemy also significantly intensified strikes on Sumy last year.
Recently, the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Volodymyr Artyukh, stated that shelling in the Sumy region has increased fourfold compared to last year. The official added that the enemy is using new means of attack.
It was also reported that on January 5, the Russian army struck the infrastructure of the Sumy community with "Shahed" drones. As a result of the enemy strike, 10 people were injured.
On January 3, Russian terrorists attacked Sumy with a "Shahed" drone using shrapnel.
