Russians have definitively abandoned the repair of their military ships at facilities in Crimea due to fears of potential Ukrainian strikes.
This was stated by the spokesperson for the Ukrainian Navy, Dmitry Pletenchuk, as reported by RBK-Ukraine referencing a telethon.
"We have already proven in practice that it is no longer possible to use repair bases for the Russian Black Sea Fleet. To restore ships, they first need to be brought there, and currently, no one is willing to do that," Pletenchuk stated.
He reminded that Ukraine destroyed the small missile ship "Cyclone" in Sevastopol Bay, struck the submarine "Rostov-on-Don" twice, and also hit the small missile ship "Askold" in Kerch.
"These examples suggest to the Russians that using Crimea for ship repairs is fundamentally impossible," the spokesperson said.
Crimea was occupied by the Russians in 2014. Since then, the occupiers have turned the peninsula into a massive military base, surrounding it with air defense systems.
Earlier, RBK-Ukraine reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck the Russian submarine "Rostov-on-Don." As a result of the attack, the vessel sank in occupied Sevastopol.
