Russia launched a new drone, "Lightning," targeting the Kupiansk district, resulting in injuries to police officers.

The Russian army launched an attack using the new "Molniya" drone in the Kupiansk district of Kharkiv region, resulting in injuries.

The Russian army struck the Kupiansk district of the Kharkiv region with the new drone "Lightning." There were injuries reported.

This was stated by the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleg Synegubov, as reported by RBK-Ukraine citing "Suspilne."

According to him, the attack occurred around 12:00 PM, resulting in injuries to three police officers.

The police officers are currently in moderately serious condition.

Synegubov also mentioned that yesterday, January 5, two strikes by "Lightning" were recorded in Kharkiv - in the Kyiv and Kholodnohirskiy districts. As a result of the drone strikes, a private house was damaged in Kharkiv.

"The enemy is testing its new weapon. This 'Lightning-1' is made almost from scraps, yet it remains dangerous because it carries a combat payload," Synegubov stated.

New Drone from Russia

Previously, we reported that the use of "Lightning" for strikes on Kharkiv became known relatively recently. The first such attack occurred on November 12.

Aviation expert Valeriy Romanenko explained that the strike drone "Lightning" was assembled from extremely primitive parts. The total cost of one such drone is estimated at $300.
