Chef Valentina Kusch demonstrated how to make a delicious and visually appealing zebra cake – the simplest recipe for this dessert.
"My mom used to make this cake for me," the chef shared.
To prepare the zebra cake, we will need the following ingredients:
- eggs – 2 pcs.
- sugar – 200 g
- vanilla sugar – 20 g
- milk - 150 g
- odorless vegetable oil – 150 g
- flour – 300 g
- baking powder – 1 tsp.
- cocoa powder - 50 g
"I also added chocolate chips and covered it with chocolate icing," the chef noted.
Add sugar and vanilla sugar to the eggs and whisk until fluffy. Next, pour in the milk and vegetable oil, and beat until smooth. Then, add the flour mixed with baking powder and stir until you achieve a uniform consistency.
Divide the batter into two portions, one slightly larger than the other. Leave the larger portion plain, and add cocoa powder to the smaller portion. Optionally, you can incorporate chocolate chips and mix well.
In a cake pan lined with parchment paper, layer the batter as shown in the video to create zebra stripes: a scoop of white batter, a scoop of dark, and alternate until finished.
Bake the zebra cake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for 40-60 minutes. You can check for doneness with a wooden skewer. Optionally, the finished cake can be topped with chocolate icing.
