Law enforcement officials have uncovered a gang led by officials from the Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA). The perpetrators embezzled 2.2 million hryvnias intended for the renovation of a lyceum and school shelters.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the Telegram channel of the National Police of Ukraine.
According to sources from RBK-Ukraine within the law enforcement agencies, the individuals involved include:
Among the other suspects are the head of a construction company and his subordinates.
In 2023, the management of a children's sports boarding lyceum entered into a contract with a controlled construction company for the renovation of the educational institution. Specifically, the company also performed renovations for shelters in two other schools in the capital.
To execute the deal, the company purchased the materials and equipment necessary for the renovation at inflated prices through one of the employees of the contracting firm.

During the planned work, the suspects submitted false data in the reports regarding the construction materials used, the volume of work, and their quality, resulting in the misappropriation of over 2.2 million hryvnias of budget funds.
The funds obtained were transferred by one of the participants in the deal to the organizer of the scheme - an official from KCSA, who then distributed them among all members of the criminal group.
On January 22, law enforcement officials conducted 8 searches at the residences of the suspects and other involved individuals, during which computers, mobile phones, documentation, and "draft" notes were seized.
In total, six participants in the scheme have been charged. Currently, the issue of applying preventive measures for the suspects is being resolved.
Recall that RBK-Ukraine reported that the State Bureau of Investigations (SBI) recently uncovered a scheme for embezzling budget funds in the Lviv region. In particular, the son of a people's deputy is suspected of involvement in the deal.
