СБУ объяснила причины введения санкций против Порошенко, Коломойского и Медведчука, озвученные решением СНБО.

The National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) has today imposed sanctions against oligarchs due to threats to the state security, territorial integrity, and sovereignty of Ukraine.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the Telegram channel of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).

As the SBU reminds, indefinite sanctions were imposed against five individuals, including:

  • Igor Kolomoisky;
  • Gennady Bogolyubov;
  • Konstantin Zhevago;
  • Petr Poroshenko;
  • Viktor Medvedchuk.

Reasons for the Sanctions

The proposals for the imposition of sanctions were submitted for consideration by the NSDC, taking into account:

  • existing threats to state security, territorial integrity, and the sovereignty of Ukraine;
  • the creation of obstacles to sustainable economic development by the sanctioned individuals.

The SBU adds that today most of the oligarchs are involved in criminal proceedings, which are under pre-trial investigation by the SBU or other law enforcement agencies.

For instance, earlier Poroshenko and Medvedchuk were announced as suspects in:

  • high treason;
  • aiding the activities of a terrorist organization and other charges.

It is noted that during Poroshenko's presidency, he placed Ukraine in an energy dependency on Russia and its controlled leaders of pseudo-republics.

Kolomoisky, in turn, was reported as a suspect in the legalization of funds obtained illegally, seizing someone else's property, and similar offenses.
