In the city of Brovary, law enforcement officials apprehended a 29-year-old man suspected of a series of frauds that resulted in losses exceeding 150,000 hryvnias.
According to information from the Kyiv region police, the perpetrator managed to deceive around 20 individuals before he was caught. The suspect devised a scheme that involved creating and distributing advertisements for the installation of plastic windows at reduced prices. He particularly focused on vulnerable groups in his advertising, offering discounts of up to 30% for pensioners, military personnel, and other socially disadvantaged populations.
The fraudster, a resident of Trebukhov, began his active operations in Brovary in July. Thanks to the attractive conditions, he quickly garnered the attention of locals, who willingly entered into fake contracts for window installation and paid upfront for services. However, immediately after receiving the money, the man would disappear, no longer communicating with his victims. The police investigated all aspects of his criminal activities, and the investigators established the suspect's involvement in at least 20 cases of fraud.
The suspect faces up to three years of imprisonment for this crime. Law enforcement officials urge citizens to be cautious and thoroughly verify information about services that require advance payments, especially when significant sums of money are involved.
