The suspect in the murder of a military officer from the TCK in Pyriatyn was aware of the bus route transporting the mobilized individuals. Both participants in the crime have been informed of their suspicion.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the Office of the Prosecutor General.
"On January 31, a resident of Poltava, along with other mobilized individuals under the escort of soldiers from the Poltava RTC and SP, was heading to training at a military unit," the statement reads.
In an attempt to evade military service, he made several calls to an acquaintance from Lubny, informing him of the bus route.
"When the bus stopped at a gas station in Pyriatyn, the resident of Lubny shot one of the escorts with a firearm he had brought, inflicting a gunshot wound incompatible with life. He then seized the victim's automatic weapon and, together with an accomplice, fled the scene," the Office of the Prosecutor General noted.
However, just a few hours later, the suspects were apprehended. During a search, law enforcement seized from the Lubny resident two hand grenade bodies, a hunting rifle, ammunition, a balaclava, mobile phones, and other items.
"The military automatic weapon was found in a forested area where the suspects had abandoned it," the prosecutors added.
Under the procedural guidance of the Lubny District Prosecutor's Office, two individuals - residents of Lubny and Poltava - have been informed of their suspicion.
The charges against the suspects are as follows:
The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings is ongoing. The issue of choosing a preventive measure for the suspects is being resolved.
On February 1, at a gas station in Pyriatyn, where the bus with the mobilized individuals stopped, the military officer from the TCK was attacked and killed. He was part of the convoy escorting the conscripts.
After the military officer refused to surrender his weapon to the assailant, whose face was concealed by a balaclava, the assailant shot him with a firearm he had with him. The military officer from the TCK died at the scene. The shooter fled with one of the mobilized individuals, but they were soon apprehended by law enforcement.
