The police arrested a resident of Kyiv who was setting off fireworks. Despite the ban, he wanted to congratulate his girlfriend on her birthday in this way.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine, citing the Kyiv police.
"Law enforcement officials detained a 19-year-old Kyiv resident who launched fireworks yesterday in the Lesnoy area," the statement said.
The young man explained to the authorities that he intended to congratulate his girlfriend on her birthday. Investigators seized two used launchers from the scene.

Before the onset of full-scale war, fireworks were an integral part of Christmas and New Year celebrations. However, the use of fireworks in Ukraine is now prohibited during martial law at the legislative level.
Despite the ban, instances of violations still occur. For example, recently in Kyiv, the police detained a man who was launching fireworks from a window. He now faces up to five years of restriction of liberty.
