A child was kidnapped near Kyiv. The criminals intimidated his mother with fictitious debts.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the police of the Kyiv region.
"On the night of January 20, in the village of Sofiivska Borshchahivka in the Bucha district, two men kidnapped a young child, while locking the mother in the apartment and taking her mobile phone with them," the statement said.
Law enforcement agencies found out that the men, who were acquaintances of the woman raising the child alone, entered her apartment after learning about her savings.
The criminals demanded the repayment of a nonexistent debt of $200,000. However, realizing that the woman did not consider herself a "debtor," the men kidnapped her young child. Additionally, they took 17,000 hryvnias, documents, and two mobile phones with them before fleeing the scene.
Soon, law enforcement established the whereabouts of the kidnapped girl in an apartment in Kyiv, at the residence of an accomplice of the suspects. Fortunately, the child was unharmed.
In less than a day, the police identified and apprehended all the criminals. They turned out to be 21-year-old and 22-year-old residents of the capital, along with a 31-year-old accomplice.
The perpetrators face up to 12 years in prison.
As reported, a fire broke out in a high-rise building in Odesa due to a washing machine igniting in one of the apartments. An 11-year-old boy was injured.
Additionally, a child died at a ski resort in the Lviv region. The boy was skiing.
