A baby was found abandoned in a bag near Kyiv; police are searching for the mother.

On Thursday, January 2, a newborn boy was discovered in the city of Bohuslav, Kyiv region. He was left in a bag next to a private house.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine with a reference to the police of the Kyiv region.

According to the police, the incident took place on one of the streets of Bohuslav. The owner of the private house found the newborn boy. The child was immediately taken to a medical facility, where doctors are currently examining his health condition.

Law enforcement is now determining the circumstances of the incident and searching for the baby's parents.

"The police are reaching out to the public: if you have any information about the incident or possible witnesses, please contact the special line '102' or the nearest police station," the statement said.
