Ukrainians can save up to 1100 kWh of electricity per year, which translates to approximately 4752 UAH, by following simple energy-saving rules.
This will not only reduce energy costs but also support the stability of the country's energy system, noted the Ministry of Energy.
To achieve such savings, the government advises adhering to several straightforward yet effective tips. In particular:
1. Lighting savings:
Replacing regular incandescent bulbs with LED bulbs can reduce electricity consumption by tenfold. For example, using 5 LED bulbs of 9 watts instead of conventional 60-watt bulbs can save up to 680 kWh per year.
2. Turning off lights and appliances:
According to the Ministry of Energy's calculations, turning off lights in empty rooms can save about 90 kWh per year. Additionally, unplugging devices from standby mode can further conserve up to 138 kWh.
3. Reducing TV and computer usage time:
Replacing just one hour of TV watching or computer work with another activity can save 144 kWh per year.
4. Unplugging chargers from outlets:
Chargers continue to consume energy even when not in use if they remain plugged in. Unplugging them can save up to 26.3 kWh per year for each device.
"Rational energy consumption is not about giving up comfort, but about a conscious approach to resource use. Simple daily habits can provide 2-3 times more benefits from electrical appliances without additional costs, significantly reducing electricity expenses and aiding the energy workers and energy system of Ukraine," the Ministry of Energy emphasizes.
