The Pechersk Court has placed the commander of the 211th Brigade under arrest.

On Monday, December 30, the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv placed Oleg Poberezhniuk, the commander of the 211th pontoon-bridge brigade, under arrest. An alternative option of bail has been set at 12 million hryvnias.

On Monday, December 30, the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv detained the commander of the 211th Pontoon Bridge Brigade, Oleg Poberezhniuk. An alternative measure has also been set - a bail amounting to 12 million hryvnias.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine with a reference to the Office of the Prosecutor General.

"The commander of the 211th Pontoon Bridge Brigade has been remanded in custody with the possibility of posting bail in the amount of 12 million 112 thousand hryvnias. Prosecutors requested that he be held in custody with the right to post bail of 40 million hryvnias," the statement said.

Additionally, prosecutors from the Office of the Prosecutor General filed a motion with the court to suspend the suspect from his official duties.

It is worth noting that during the hearing, the prosecution stated that since February 2024, Poberezhniuk had received reports of abuses against military personnel from platoon commander Vladislav Pastukh, but he ignored them.

Scandal in the 211th Brigade

Recently, media outlets reported on the brutal treatment of soldiers by officers in the 211th Pontoon Bridge Brigade of the Armed Forces Support, particularly a case where a soldier was tied to a wooden cross.

In this context, the brigade commander Oleg Poberezhniuk was charged with abuse of power. According to the investigation, he involved four soldiers in the construction of his house in the Khmelnytskyi region. The court imposed a measure of detention with a bail of 900 thousand hryvnias, which Poberezhniuk posted on December 20.

On December 26, it became known that platoon commander Vladislav Pastukh, who had abused military personnel, was also charged.
