Without capturing the left bank bridgehead, crossing the Oskol River is practically impossible for the enemy.

This was stated on the air of Espresso by the Commander of the "Achilles" Battalion of the 92nd Separate Assault Brigade named after Ivan Sirko, Yuriy Fedorenko.

"Reaching the left bank with one or two infantrymen does not mean they can secure those positions," Fedorenko noted, emphasizing that currently, the enemy lacks the ability to maintain their positions.

However, the expert believes it is still too early to discuss any successes of the enemy in this situation.

"The primary task for the occupiers is to seize the left bank bridgehead, and without that, crossing the Oskol River is, in my opinion, impossible," Fedorenko emphasized.

The battalion commander also pointed out that even if the enemy gains control over the bridgehead, crossing the Oskol will pose a serious challenge.

"I know what I'm talking about, as we ourselves crossed this river in the fall of 2022, and it was not an easy test. In 2024, with new technologies, particularly strike drones, this process will become even more complicated," he said.

Fedorenko noted that the Ukrainian Defense Forces are actively working to create conditions that not only halt the enemy but also allow for tactical initiative to be seized.

"Our goal is to prevent the occupiers from expanding their control over the left bank bridgehead," he added.
