At Chernobyl, efforts to address the aftermath of the attack are ongoing, with rescue teams and emergency services actively involved.

All necessary emergency services have been deployed to the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. Efforts are currently underway to mitigate the consequences of the attack by a Russian drone.

According to RBK-Ukraine, this was reported by Interior Minister Igor Klymenko.

He stated that the situation at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant is under control, and it is also known that there are no reported injuries.

Rescue teams, including mountain rescuers, are currently working on the dismantling of the protective cover over the 4th reactor to identify smoldering hotspots.

Klymenko noted that, based on observations, the radiation background is normal. At the Chernobyl site, a level of 0.57 μSv/h has been recorded, which does not exceed permissible limits.

"Emergency Service specialists are conducting continuous measurements. Information about the consequences of the Russian strike and the operational situation at Chernobyl has been communicated to the EU Emergency Response Coordination Centre within the civil protection mechanism," he reported.

Russian Drone Strike on Chernobyl

On the morning of Friday, February 14, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that a Russian strike drone with a high-explosive warhead hit the shelter of the destroyed 4th reactor of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant last night.

"The shelter at Chernobyl was damaged by this drone. The fire has been extinguished. Currently, the radiation background has not increased, and this is being monitored continuously. Initial assessments indicate that the damage to the shelter is significant," Zelensky wrote.

Subsequently, the first photos from the scene appeared. They show that the drone penetrated the roof of the sarcophagus of the 4th reactor at Chernobyl.

According to rescuers, following the strike by the Russian drone on the shelter of the 4th reactor, radiation levels remain within normal limits.
