In Ukraine, a rise in meat prices is anticipated, and there are several objective reasons for this.

Economist Oleg Pendzin discussed this on "Public Radio." He noted that the primary factor influencing price increases is the rising cost of feed, which impacts the final price of the product.

Additionally, there is a decline in meat production in Ukraine. Pendzin emphasized that traditionally, pork was produced in households, but due to labor shortages in rural areas, production volumes are decreasing. Consequently, the reduced supply in the market may lead to price increases.

However, according to the expert, meat prices have risen "very insignificantly" compared to last year. A significant restraining factor remains the purchasing power of Ukrainians, which forces them to seek more affordable food options.

Moreover, Pendzin pointed out that the segment of cheap products is showing substantial growth due to seasonal factors related to declining yields.

When we look at vegetables, bread, pasta, and cereals, particularly vegetables, they are undoubtedly demonstrating an extremely high increase, up to 50% overall. The entire group of vegetables, for instance, potatoes are already 2 to 2.5 times more expensive than last year. Beets, carrots, and cabbage are significantly more expensive than they were last year, Pendzin concluded.
