Russia's Invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022

On February 24, 2022, Russia commenced a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, executing missile strikes on military and civilian targets across various regions of the country. Russian troops crossed the borders from the north, east, and south, attacking Kyiv, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Mariupol, Kherson, and other cities.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky declared martial law and called on the international community for decisive actions to support Ukraine.

The Ukrainian army and its people mounted fierce resistance, thwarting the Kremlin's plans for a swift takeover of the country. As a result of the invasion, thousands lost their lives, millions became refugees, and Russian forces committed numerous war crimes.

Western countries imposed unprecedented sanctions on the Russian Federation and began providing military, financial, and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine. Despite significant losses, Ukraine continues to fight for its independence and territorial integrity.
